“How did Nick Lashaway die?” seems to be the most reoccurring question this morning as fans recently learned that the young actor died at just 28 years old. Nick Lashaway died on May 8 in a car accident in Framingham, Massachusetts. With Nick Lashaway dead we decided to pay tribute to his acting career and memory. The X-Files

Lashaway played a young Agent Fox Mulder in the original X-Files in 1998 and then reprised his role in 2015 of the cult classic sci-fi show. The X-Files was a popular show in the late 1990s that was centered on FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who investigate aliens and other strange phenomenon. The “X-Files” were marginalized unsolved cases that couldn’t be solved. Mulder believed in the existence of aliens and paranormal activity while Scully was a medical doctor who believed in facts and was the skeptic. Lashaway played young Fox in flashback scenes revealing clues to the mystery of the disappearance of Fox’s sister.

Life as We Know It

Lashaway guest starred as Christopher “Topher” Flynn on the ABC teen drama Life as We Know It. Lashaway was only on for a few episodes alongside Kelly Osbourne and Rookie Blue star Missy Peregrym. The show was set in Seattle, Washington, and was about a high school hockey star and his soccer player girlfriend. The shoe centered on the usual issues of parents having affairs, consequences, and the trials of high school.

The Last Song

In 2010, Lashaway played the role of Marcus in The Last Song, starring Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. Marcus was an abusive boyfriend to one of the supporting characters (Blaze) and was a leader of a gang of thugs who take money from beach carnival crowds while distracting them with a fire juggling performance. The movie was about Cyrus’ character, Ronnie, who falls in love with Hemsworth’s character, Will, and is a troubled teen dealing with her estranged father whom she is visiting.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Though Lashaway only played a small role as a boy at a health clinic in this successful comedy, he would also team up with Steve Carell again in an episode of The Office. The 40-Year-Old Virgin is a comedy from 2005 starring Steve Carell, and it’s exactly how it sounds—a grown man who has never had sex and happens to be 40 while working at an electronics store. The movie was directed by Judd Apatow.

Girls

Lashaway played 19-year-old Frank, one of Hannah’s hook-ups in season two, episode seven of the hit HBO Show. Girls actress, Lena Dunham made a tribute on Instagram to the late actor, who was a guest star in season two of the show.

“We will always remember the week we shared with him, his playful smile, his easy instincts, how much he made us laugh even when we had to stay up all night in the woods,” Dunham wrote on Instagram. “We are sending love to his family and friends and feeling such gratitude for his gifts. RIP sweet Nick. [sic]”
